Shredded cheese - Although I prefer a shredded Mexican mix, you can also use any favorite melty cheese. A little kick can be added by pepper jack. Another favorite of ours is cheddar cheese!

Crispy Taco Shells Crispy tacoshells are the crunch to the gordita crunch To preserve the natural flavors and prevent them breaking, you should actually bake your crispy shells before making your tacos. You can make a crispy, melty taco shell by adding flour tortillas and cheese.

Flour Tortillas-Flour Tortillas can be used in this recipe as they are flexible enough for you to fold over the crispy taco shells. Any brand can be used, but it is best to choose the faijta-sized tortillas. They will fit the best around the crispy tacoshells. You can reduce the size of larger tortillas if you cannot find them.

Prepared Taco Meat –The best thing about this recipe? You can prepare the taco meat in advance! To save time, you can cook your taco meat up until a week in advance. I use lean ground beef . But you can also use ground turkey or a vegan substitute.

INSTRUCTIONS

Divide the flour tortillas among two baking sheets. Sprinkle evenly cheese mix on flour tortillas

Place hard shell tacos in center of each flour tortilla

Bake for five minutes, or until cheese is melted.

While the taco shells bake, heat ground beef on medium-high heat in a skillet. Season with your favorite taco seasoning.

Fold the cheesy tortilla over the crispy taco shell to ensure it sticks.

Enjoy the crispy taco shell by filling it with taco meat, shredded lettuce, tomato, cheese, and hot sauce.

TIPS

You don't need a packet taco seasoning, so you can just add a few spices. For 1 lb, I use cumin powder and chili powder. Add 1/4-1/2 teaspoon of ground meat to the mixture. Season your taco meat with lots of salt and pepper!

To add more fiber and protein to your taco mixture,feel to add a can black beans or pinto bean or garbanzos. I suggest draining the beans first, then adding the seasoning to the beans.

Use Nacho Cheese flavored taco shells instead of regular crispy shells for a Doritos cheesey gordita crunch.
